Not terrible, but not as good as most Gibraltar stuff
I bought a 1950s Slingerland bass drum that already had a pair of these mounted, but one of the spurs had a screw broken off in one of the threaded holes, so it was not stable. I assumed it was previous user error and bought a replacement. Now I see how it happened. The screws bottom out well before they tighten up on a thinner mahogany shell, and so the guy must have over-torqued it instead of adding some washers. Now with the new ones installed properly, it's still pretty unstable. I don't think these are much better than the spurs that clamp onto the bass drum hoop, and they're kind of a pain to install on a vintage drum, the only realistic use-case. I'd go for something heavier or something that doesn't require drilling into the shell, but not these.
