The 4-star rating is due to a couple of things:
1. The curved part of the clamp is not in the right orientation for the drum hoop. Granted, even without the flush fit to the hoop, the stand stays in place well.
2. The included gooseneck doesn't hold a bass drum mic very well, certainly not if the mic is to be put inside the bass drum. The gooseneck tends to droop unless a stronger gooseneck is purchased separately. There's also the part that the gooseneck doesn't stay bent; it keeps trying to staighten itself out. I had an old chrome gooseneck at home and replacing the short goosseneck with the longer chrome gooseneck solved the issue of drooping and it holds my Lauten Kick Drum mic in position solidly.
Other than that, I like the cleaner look the bass drum mic clamp stand creates around my drums.

Exactly what I needed for the bits and pieces on my kit set-up.
This is a nice item that holds a cowbell or a drum trigger securely and ensures the bass drum hoop doesn't get damaged. I like the minimal profile of this holder as well as the fact that it has more adjustment options than other cowbell holders.
I got one of these about 40 years ago and it finally needed replacing, and the replacement looks and feels like it'll last 40 years as well.
It's a simple but terrific product to enable a good snug fit of a bass drum pedal to a metal bass drum hoop and it does that very well.
Notable quality right out of the box and ease of use. I would add a plus to the five stars.
