As great as Gibraltar's hardware is and as durable and worthy this product is for the purpose it was designed, this specific rod does NOT have an M6 thread. The thread on this specific model rod is much thicker. I ordered one of these for my Tama hi-hat stand, which does have an M6 thread, but being too thick, I had to return this, unfortunately.
In short: Great product, but NOT as described.
Dear Sir, this product comes with M6 thread. You might got the wrong product from the store, sorry for the inconvenience caused. You can ask for replacement instead of return in this case. SC-HHRS is the one got thicker thread.

Be warned - This is NOT an M6 thread!
I recently purchased this as a replacement for my Tama hi hat stand, because Tama uses M6 threads on their pull rods. This SC-HHRM which claims to have an M6 thread, is too thick to screw into the Tama stand. I even measured it against an M6 bolt bought from a hardware store and this rod is much thicker. Please be warned!
