Smartphones are used regularly in performance and practice, whether for playing along to music tracks, establishing a click, or displaying a setlist. This holder allows drummers to mount their smartphone directly to their bass drum hoop for easy access and discreet placement. Hamilton's scissor-action phone clamp accommodates most smartphones and will hold them securely through stampeding bass drum strokes. Rubber grippers are placed over the scissor clamp posts to protect the phone from damage and allow clear access to side buttons and ports. You can use the angle adjustment arm to place the mount, so your phone is in the best position for touchscreen use during play. The holder is attached to the bass drum with Gibraltar's heavy-duty counter hoop clamp, so your smartphone is securely locked. Purchased this product through Sweetwater. Never got a chance to use it because it broke during assembly. I don't understand why 90% of the product is made from metal, yet the most critical component (threads sticking out of the mount body) is made of plastic. I was screwing the Angle Adjustment Arm onto the Mount Body when the threaded piece of plastic broke off as I was snugging it up with my hands. Fortunately, Sweetwater is replacing it through the warranty. Hopefully the next one will hold up long enough I can at least try it out.
Like: Great idea, holds phone well. Most of it is sturdy.
Dislike: 1. The rubber pads on the clamp came off after about a month, I had to replace them and figure out what type of adhesive would keep the pads on.
2. The part of the mount that takes the most stress, the attachment of the arm to the phone clamp, is made of plastic, and after about a year of moderate use it snapped right off. I tried re-attaching with epoxy, but too much torque at that point in the mount.
